MU GALLERY is pleased to present “TOKYO?” by Shoko Mihira 7/27(sat) to 8/10(sat).
SHOKO MIHIRA
Born in Tokyo.
He studied under American glass artist Zii in 2016.
Glass is placed in the fire of a burner and melted as it is produced, a technique known as burner work.
The models for his artworks are events that have happened to him, complexes, people he has met, etc.
He creates artworks in which empathy and a story exist in each piece.

~Message from Shoko Mihira for this exhibition~
The city of Tokyo where I have lived since I was born.
The streets and people have changed compared to the past.
I was able to experience firsthand the good and bad parts of what various people say and do,
and the differences in thinking between generations with the development of SNS.
I’ve also become concerned about the possibility of hurting someone in the real or online world through social networking texts, etc.
I find it difficult to live up to the rapid changes in the city and the need for diversity.
For this solo exhibition, I would like to present the Tokyo human condition as I feel it myself, as a monstrous three-dimensional work.
